Rock the lastest summer pop trend!

Some time back I did a post on the Pop colours trend. But even though they are quite a rage, many people fail to pull it off mostly because they don't know which colours would suit them.
So here's a cheat sheet to make the pop tints work for you:

For dusky skin tones

Even though it's my favourite type of skin tone, it's a bit sad that most people with dark skin tone go wrong with this style. People with such skin tone should stay away from bright reds and the like. Try dark coral tones or warmer shades like peaches or mauves.

For wheatish skin tones

Coral tones look wonderful on a skin tone that has a golden undertone. Lucky you, you can go for anything from blood reds to cranberry pinks.

For lighter skin tones

For such complexion, hot reds and fuchsia work great. But of course, if you're the experimenting kind, you could go for bright orange tints.
Taylor Swift shows you how to get it right.

Indian Celebs at the Cannes Film Festival

Though most of the Indian celebrities failed to impress at the Cannes Film Festival, here's a look at their pictures anyway.

1. Vidya Balan
There was a lot of excitement about an Indian star being in the jury. Vidya did manage to live up to the hype during her first official appearance, but the rest was just forgettable.

2. Amitabh Bachchan

The superstar was there for the screening of his film, The Great Gatsby. The usually well turned out actor looked nothing less than a shiny disco ball this time. How about a simple, classic tuxedo next time, Mr. Bachchan?

3. Frieda Pinto

The Indian origin actress looked staggering in a retro look appreciated by many after her not so great first appearance.

4. Nawazuddin Siddiqui

While the critically acclaimed actor kept it simple in a suit, I wonder if it's the same one he wore last year.

5. Sonam Kapoor

After her faux pas with her first appearance at this year's festival, the actress bounced back with this beautiful Dolce&Gabbana. Can safely say I'm in love with this one.

6. Aishwarya Rai

While baby Aaradhya did not accompany mommy Ash on the red carpet, it was wonderful to see her in this beautiful Ellie Saab gown. A great way to silence her critics. Way to go, Ash!

Mother’s Day special: Celeb moms and their kids

This Mother’s Day let’s take a look at celeb mums with their super famous kids.

1. Adele

The Grammy-winning singer welcomed a baby boy (name not confirmed yet) win October 2012, with boyfriend Simon Konecki.

2. Jessica Alba
The Fantastic Four star has two daughters, Honor and Haven with husband Cash Warren.

3. Katie Holmes

When you have Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise for your parents, you're bound to be in the media glare. Probably one of the most stylish star kids, Suri Cruise is a fashionista for sure.

4. Reese Witherspoon
Reese tied the knot with Ryan Phillippe in June 1999 and welcomed their first daughter Ava and son Deacon in October 2003, before splitting. The Legally Blonde star welcomed her third child, Tennessee James in 2012.

5. Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge may yet to have welcome the little one, but that does not stop the media speculations. She's been spotted with a baby bump at various ocassions.

6. Aishwarya Rai
Closer home, Aradhya Bachchan has been making waves with some glossies even comparing her with Suri Cruise. The latest news is that Beti B may walk down the red carpet with mom Aishwarya at the Cannes Film Festival, we're watching.

Gossip Girl: Redefining Fashion Moments

As Gossip Girl bids adieu to the Indian screens, I have put together some top style moments from the show. The show which depicted the lives of Upper East Siders in New York was high on fashion and why wouldn't it be when designers like Elie Saab, Alexander McQueen, Vera Wang etc featured regularly on the show.
So relax and enjoy the visual treat!

Weddings: Weddings were a favourite with the show's one of the main leads Blair. While she only gets married after six seasons in the last episode, it certainly didn't stop her from having a wide variety of wedding dresses.

Blair Waldorf ( Leighton Meester) or Queen B as she was fondly called, in the last episode of Gossip Girl wearing an Elie Saab gown as she (finally!) gets married to Chuck Bass.

In season 4, Blair decides to marry a prince from Monaco named Louis. Even though that didn't work out, the dress surely did!

Queen B  may have rocked the wedding dresses but the show's lead Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) was certainly not far behind.
Serena in the last episode, when she gets married to "outsider" Daniel Humphrey (
Penn Badgley) wearing a Georges Chakra dress.

Dresses: Dresses were a favourite with the show's leading ladies, here's a look at the best of them.

Serena in a Zuhair Murad design.

Juliet Sharp (Katie Cassidy) during her short but impressive stint in Gossip Girl.

Serena or Selena?

Summer skincare tips!

Summers is definitely one of the least liked seasons and if you live in a tropical country, it can be a nightmare. So here are a few tips to beat the heat. Also, don’t forget to eat right and exercise!

1.   Stay hydrated.
Your body tends to lose a lot of moisture in the summer, so it’s really important to drink a lot of water and liquids.
CAUTION: When celebrities say that they drink 3-4 lts of water everyday, they do not actually mean water. But they are talking about the fluids they get from fruits and juices, etc. Drinking large amounts of water can actually drain you of essential nutrients.

2.   Sun protection:
It is best if you don’t go out in the sun between 10am-2pm because the sun’s rays’ are the strongest at that time. If it's really necessary, apply a sunscreen thirty minutes before going out and keep touching it up after every few hours. Also, it is best if you use a sunscreen of SPF 30-40 which is highly recommended for Indian skin.
CAUTION: Applying a sunscreen does not protect you from tanning. So it is better if you cover up nicely before going out in the sun.

3.
Moisturize:
Use a water based moisturizer unless you want to end up looking too “shiny.” Or you could make your own moisturizer at home by mixing rose water and glycerin in the ratio 3:1.

4.
Treat sunburns:
If you get sunburned, apply Aloe Vera extract. In fact, you can grow some in your kitchen garden. The effect of Aloe Vera will soothe your skin and will help youheal faster.

5.
Makeup:
It is best to leave your foundation or tinted moisturizer in the refrigerator. When you apply it, the heat from your face will melt it into your skin making it giving you a very natural look.

Sachin- The style icon

Sachin may have ruled the cricket grounds but he's also managed to impress the fashion police off field. As the master blaster turns 40, here’s a look at his top style moments:

Elante Mall Chandigarh

So I was about to post a new entry on the blog but I decided to visit the newly opened Elante mall instead, which is somehow the same thing. It had been quite some time that I had been reading about it in the newspapers and hearing about it from others. And I have to say, I wasn’t disappointed. It is rarely that you come across so many international brands under one roof in Chandigarh.

Zara, Bebe, Promod, Louis Philippe, The Body Shop, Latin Quarters…the list is endless. For what it’s worth, a shopaholic like me can practically live there and still not get tired. What’s more is, even when you think you have gone through all the brands, if you happen to take a look around you’ll come across something you missed.
The bottom line is if you are looking for a perfect place to splurge or even window shop, Elante is the perfect destination. It gets my vote hands down.

5 summer hairstyles for men

So I was talking to a guy friend a couple of days back and he complained how he really needs to change his hairstyle, but couldn’t decide what to do with his hair. So here I’ve complied a few hairstyles (there are certainly a lot more to go for). Take your pick:

1. Looking slick

This style NEVER gets old. The classic cut- lean and clean. Think Don Draper in Mad Men. For a more modern edge, check out Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl.

2. The short texture haircut
For men with thick hair, this style is a good option. The hair is cut short on the sides and back and left a little longer on top. You could use a bit of styling gel to add texture and create a casual, spiky effect.

3. The quirky quiff

This is most definitely for guys who want to go out of their comfort zone and experiment a little. David Beckham carries it off effortlessly, can you?

4. The military cut (High and Tight cut)

It certainly beats having long hair like most guys these days have and what’s more is that it is a favourite with the girls. But be careful! Not every guy can pull off this look. Though this is true for all hairstyles, but you have to be especially careful with this one.

5. Ponytails

Though I am personally not a great fan of men with long hair, I certainly have come across some men rocking this look. It looks great if you are creative about it. Do not keep the band too tight and pull it a few inches away from your head.
